Prox276's News

Posted by Prox276 - November 8th, 2021

Here we go again. These past couple of weeks have been a wild ride to say the least. I hate to go back and forth like this, and I do need to learn how to keep my mouth shut, but I don't feel like I have another choice.

TL;DR: The untitled game I've worked on for a year and been planning on releasing on Steam for €10 will come for free to newgrounds because of legal and monetary reasons preventing me from realistically making money from this project.

To keep it simple, because of our poor financial situation resulting from my mother's medical problems we're dependent on the government for income, meaning I can't earn a significant amount of money (>€100) or all funding would be cut, and I would be forced to provide for the family, so what's the point of trying to earn money if it will result in me jeopardizing our living quality or earning what is basically change considering the caliber of this project.

I also wouldn't be able to afford a lawyer for legal help, my marketing budget is non-existent, and I would rather not commit tax fraud so even after a month of consultation, I feel as if I have no other option.

Saying this wasn't disappointing would be a lie, but on the other hand, it lends me a lot of freedom that a commercial release just wouldn't allow. This is by no means a "downgrade" and the final product will not suffer as a result.

For a more concrete update: There are about 80 completely unique items in the game right now (35 Passive, 49 Active Item) and 10 Weapons, with more to come. I also added unlockable skins, achievements, new room types and a lot more. I have reached the polishing stage and will remain there until I have something that does justice to the year of work that has gone into this.

I will try to set up a Patreon page for people who'd like to contribute to my projects in the future, for now I thank everyone who has supported me over the years. If it wasn't for your constructive criticism I wouldn't be where I am now quality-wise, if it wasn't for your kind words I wouldn't be where I am now mental-health-wise. :)

Some of you may have heard from the project I am currently working on; a roguelite shooter I was planning on releasing here on newgrounds. I am still working on it constantly and after delaying it's release by over a year I have decided to make it a commercial project, with a planned release on itch.io and Steam.

It's hard to justify leaving empty-handed after spending well over a thousand hours developing a game one is extremely passionate about.

I currently can't tell how or when this release will take place, but I can assure that it will far exceed it's initial scope (because it already has) and that I wouldn't deliver a bad product, regardless of any inscentive to do so.

Of course, this does not mean I am distancing myself from the NG community or abandoning free games in any way, I just wanted to let you know what happened to the project and give a little update.

More than anything, this lets me create something that I am proud of, and I hope you see it that way too. :)

Hey everyone!

Some of you might remember this post I created in Feburary, documenting my progress on a roguelite I am working on. I've done a lot of work since then to get closer to a final product and I just wanted to assure you that it is still coming! Here is what this progress currently looks like:

As always, keep your expectations realistic; I'm only one guy after all. ;)

I won't give a release date yet, but you can expect to play the game somewhere around the month of October. This is my passion project and I want to deliver something I am proud of myself, which is why this isn't just a race to the finish line.

There will be 4 levels with their own unique boss fights, a plethora of items and weapons, different modes and skins as well as Newgrounds Medals and unlockables! And of course it will be completely free, no ifs, ands, or buts!

Feel free to suggest features you would like to see and thank you for your continuous support over the years! :)

We just reached 100 Levels and it is only fitting that I have an update ready. It's nothing large, but this is probably going to be where the game stays from now on.

You can now rotate springs in the editor to create harder levels, automatic levels, or just to torture your players.

Every Level now also has a color palette. It is mostly random, but it is calculated by the player and exit position, so

try changing that around if the color scheme in your level doesn't fit your taste.

Thank you very much for the support! I hope to play more of your levels in the near future!

Up until now, I have beaten all of them!

Hey everyone!

While I was working on my action-roguelike I decided to take part in the Retro Jam 2021. With the help

of lenscas we got a level database working, letting anyone upload and play levels without any login required.

You can simply create a level for the player to go through, or you could go a step further and give the player items they can use to modify the level. Make an action platforming stage, a puzzle level, or something else entirely.

Who knows, your creation might even get featured! :)

You can play it here! (Newgrounds Link)

Have fun!

Hi everyone!

Just though I'd give you an update on what I've been doing the past 6 months. I always liked the

concept of roguelites, which is why Spelunky 1/2 as well as Enter the Gungeon are my favorite games of all time. They feel infinitely replayable and are so densely packed with interesing gameplay and ideas.

About 5 months ago I decided to start development on my own space-themed permadeath game with procedural dungeon- and weapon generation and I've been working eagerly on it in that time window. Here is what it looks like right now:

This game will be releasing on Newgrounds, itch.io and Android for Free and with no Ads.

The base mechanics are already in place, but I will still keep it a few months in the oven before I can call

it "great."

Expect Medals, Replayability, Challange, Unlockables and a lot of weapons, but keep your expectations in the realm of Solo Dev Possibilities. :)

Thank you all for the constant support and encouragement. I read every single comment, and it means a lot to me!

I hope you will enjoy this as much as my other games! :D
